Imagine a place where calm music playing in the background with a calming mild scented candle smell. Sound’s good. Isn’t it?

You can play your favorite music from the background and light a scented candle also. It will give you a pleasant experience and environment for the treatment.

A comfortable place is more important to a beneficial facial. The inner peace of your mind is important for successful skin treatment.

Before starting a facial, you need to find some stuff. What you should gather?

  • Your face wash or cleanser
  • Face scrub
  • Exfoliating tool
  • Hot water or facial steamer
  • Tissues
  • Extractor
  • Homemade facial pack or hydrating face mask
  • Toner
  • Moisturizer

That’s all that you need to do a facial at home by yourself.

Let’s start our facial.

Cleanse your face

We all know that our face is more open to the outside throughout the day. It contains dust, sweat, and other dirt.

Before starting a facial, you need to clean your face. With dirt and sweat on your face, we cannot give you what your face deserves.

In the previous article, we discussed how to check your skin type. Now you know how to buy the correct product that matches your skin type. Take your face wash or cleanser that suits your skin.

Then take small drops or amounts of it and apply them to your face. Gently rub your face with them in a round shape. You should cover your forehead, cheeks, nose, lips, and neck also. Do it for at least 2 or 3 minutes.

Then wash your face.

Then take tissue paper and remove the excess water from your face.

Scrubbing or Exfoliating the face

Scrubbing or exfoliating your skin is important and compulsory in a facial.

Our skin makes 500 million dead skin cells per day. If you do not remove the dead cells from your skin, it will make your skin dark and other issues like clogging pores and dry, flaky patches.

Exfoliate will help you to remove the dead cells from your skin’s outer layer. You can exfoliate your skin by using a chemical product, granular substance, or using an exfoliating tool.

Exfoliation helps you to brighten your skin and enhance collagen production.

You can use either a chemical exfoliator or a natural exfoliator.

Chemical exfoliation is using chemical products to remove dead cells. There are many chemical exfoliants that are used for this function such as AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids), BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acids), and PHA (Poly Hydroxy Acids).

Also, there are many exfoliation chemical products on the market that you can buy. You should exactly pick the right product that matches your skin type and your skin issues.

Budget-friendly tip no 1 – You can make a DIY exfoliating mix using Sugar and lemon, Honey sugar, and coffee to scrub your skin. Be cautious to put small granules of sugar because large granules can damage your skin.

Apply any chemical or natural exfoliators to your skin after cleansing and washing. Then rub it gently around your face for at least 3 minutes.

Do not apply and rub it around your eyes because it can damage the smooth muscles around your eyes.

Then keep it for 2 minutes on your skin and wash.

Bonus tip no 1 – After the exfoliation, you can use a wet towel to rub your skin and remove the exfoliator product from your skin. This will perfectly remove the exfoliator product from your face and dead cells.

Then take a tissue and remove the excess water from the face.

Steam Your Face

If you have oily skin, steaming your face is definitely help you to get rid of acne and pimples.

Steam your face can open your pores. This will help you to extract your blackheads and whiteheads.

The areas that produce more oil, like the T zone, forehead, and around the lips are good places to build up blackheads and whiteheads. Steaming your face will open the pores to clean deeply your skin.

You can use a facial steamer to do this.

If you haven’t enough money to buy a facial steamer then here is a budget-friendly tip. You can use a boiled water bowl to steam your skin. Or you can use a towel that dips in hot water. Then you can keep it on your face for 2-3 minutes.

Steam your face until it becomes wet.

Extracting blackheads and whiteheads

You should extract blackheads and whiteheads in order to get rid of pimples and acne. You can use an extracting tool to do this.

After steaming the face, your pores are open, ready to extract the white and blackheads. Get the extracting tool and extract it. Do not dry your face when you extract and it should definitely be wet by steaming.

Also, do not extract blackheads and whiteheads if your face is dry. It will damage your skin and make scars that you cannot remove for a long time.

After extracting your skin, make sure to wash it with lukewarm water. Then you can dry your face using a paper tissue.

Use a Toner

After doing the extracting you should seal your skin pores that opened from steaming. This is really important because if you do not close your pores it can make your skin worse with pimples and acne.

You can seal your face using a toner. There are many toners in the market. You can use one of them to close your pores by tapping 2-3 drops on your skin.

Budget-friendly tip no 2 –  If you have roses in your garden, take a flower and wash it gently. After that crush the rose petals and put them in a bowl of water and close it with a lid. Then double boil it. After 12 hours you can use the water with rose petals as rose water. Rosewater is a good toner for the skin.

Budget-friendly tip no 3 – You can use cool water as a toner

Use a Facial pack or Hydrating Face Sheet Mask

Now you cleaned your skin. Then you need to feed your skin.

Using a facial pack or hydrating face sheet mask is very important to give nutrition to your skin.

There are many products in the market that you can use as a facial pack. Or you can make a DIY facial pack at home.

I prefer to use hydrating face sheet masks. Trust me it’s amazing and really hydrates your skin. Hydrating face masks are really good for ladies who are busy. You do not need many times to make a facial pack at home. You just need to apply the face sheet mask on your skin and remove it after the appropriate time.

But if you truly love to use a natural face pack, there are many that you can make. Multani mitti (fuller’s earth) with lemon juice pack is my favorite for my oily skin. You can make aloe vera, turmeric, and honey as a facial pack that is very suitable for oily skin.

Coconut oil and the banana pack and curd and gram flour pack are also best for dry skin.

There are more and more ingredients that you can use to make a face pack. But you should select the exactly suitable ingredient for your skin.

Apply the face pack or sheet mask to your skin. You can remove the face sheet mask after the time mentioned in the package. But if you are applying a DIY facial pack, you need to wait until it absorbs to your face and dries.

Bonus tip no 2–  After you remove your sheet mask, rub the excess serum or liquid on your face gently until 2-3 minutes. If you are using a DIY face pack, do not rub it if it is dry. First, you need to wet the face and then rub it. After that, you can wash it.

After washing your face take tissue paper and dry your face. Then again you should use the toner to seal the face.

Moisturize your face

The next step of our facial at home is to moisturize. Hydrating your skin after a long time procedure is a must. You can use any moisturizer cream, gel, or serum for this.

Just apply your moisturizer to your face. Here, you should select the exact right moisturizer that matches your skin type.

Now you can feel and see, a shiny, baby softens and brighten the face. Be smile.

Bonus tip no 3 – Do not apply any chemical product or rinse your face using soap or face wash after a facial, at least for 12 hours.

Bonus tip no 4 – Wash your all tools that are used in the facial with warm water because it helps you to prevent allergies and other issues.

Apply a sunscreen

After applying your moisturizer, you can apply your sunscreen or sunblock if you are going out.

Even though you regularly do a facial at home, if you can not protect your face from sunlight, you just waste your effort. So you need to protect your skin from UV rays in order to maintain fair skin.

Sunscreen or sunblock is perfectly suitable for applying on your face before you go to the daylight.

Now you are all done.
